Help us end avoidable sight loss in Wales

Over 80,000 people in Wales are at risk of needlessly losing their sight whilst waiting for treatment.

That’s enough to fill the Principality Stadium to capacity.

Half of all sight loss is avoidable with early detection and treatment, but Wales’ eye care services are under immense pressure. Ophthalmology is the busiest outpatient department in the Welsh NHS, accounting for one in every seven patients on the waiting list.

The numbers of high-risk patients waiting too long for treatment has doubled in the past five years. With demand for sight-saving eye care treatments expected to rise by as much as 40 percent over the next 20 years, the time for action is now.

We’ve prepared a letter for you to send to your Member of the Senedd (MS) to ask them to make ending avoidable sight loss a priority.
