Join us in making every neighbourhood safe for people with sight loss

Every day blind and partially sighted people encounter inaccessible pedestrian crossings, trip hazards caused by damaged pavements, abandoned hire bikes and e-scooters, and bins left out after collection days.

These hazards are not only dangerous; they impact lives.

Find out how signing the pledge can help

When you sign the pledge we will support you to make your streets accessible by offering you:

  • Free stickers for your bins to help raise awareness and keep pavements clear.

Bin sticker says please move me out of the way after bin day. Blocking the pavement is rubbish for blind and partially sighted people. An illustration of a pink wheelie bin with a smiley face is to the right hand side and the RNIB logo is in the bottom left corner

  • A personalised postcard for your Council Transport Lead, so you can have your voice heard on local accessibility issues.
  • Invitations to take part in local events and street reviews that help identify barriers in your community
  • Access to webinars with campaigners and accessibility experts, sharing practical ideas for creating more inclusive streets.
  • Training, resources and toolkits to help you continue making small changes in your neighbourhood.

Please note this campaign pledge is only for supporters based in England.

"I don’t go out on bin day, it’s just too hard to get around. My guide dog has to take me off the pavement and into the road constantly."

Small changes can make a real difference to how people get around. Even keeping one pavement clear can make a journey safer.
